The Gateway to the Experience

Pepys Walk Carnival

ORNC Grounds — The Heart of the Carnival

Pepys Walk, flanking the Royal Naval College, become the heart of the carnival's headline attractions. A towering 50-metre Big Wheel dominates the skyline, visible from across the river. An ornate Victorian Carousel spins with golden light. The 80-metre Star Flyer sends riders soaring above the rooftops. Between the rides, chalet-style food and drink stalls serve mulled wine, churros, crepes and seasonal treats.

ORNC — The Lighting Spectacle

Guests walk the Thames Path before turning right to ascend the Grand Axis — one of the most dramatic architectural vistas in London. The Baroque colonnades and domes of the ORNC are transformed by world-class projection mapping, casting sweeping patterns of deep blue, gold and purple across the stone facades. Rows of illuminated light trees line the central path, creating a magical tunnel of light leading past the King George II statue all the way to Romney Road. This zone is entirely free.

Queen's House Ice Rink

Royal Museums Greenwich — Ticketed

Crossing Romney Road, guests arrive at the Queen's House Ice Rink — widely regarded as one of the most beautiful ice skating venues in the world. Set directly in front of Inigo Jones's Palladian masterpiece, the rink is operated by Tamarisk Events under contract with Royal Museums Greenwich. The Queen's House is lit in warm rose and gold, its reflection shimmering on the ice surface.

The Perfect Festive Finale

Turning right from the ice rink and heading along Romney Road, guests arrive at the beautiful covered Greenwich Market — the final chapter of the Royal Greenwich Winter Carnival. The Georgian colonnade entrance is dressed in festive lights and Christmas wreaths. Inside, artisan traders offer handmade gifts, winter clothing, jewellery and hot food. It is the ideal conclusion to the experience: warm, intimate, and quintessentially Greenwich.
